The Council on Aging Mission
COA addresses the unmet needs of older adults and caregivers through information, advocacy and education and by being a catalyst for comprehensive solutions.
The Council on Aging Vision
COA uniquely strengthens the Greater Nashville community as the unbiased authority on issues and resources concerning older adults and caregivers.
Our History
COA was founded in 1985 as a recommendation from a mayoral task force on senior issues. The task force saw the need for an impartial group to continually study gaps in services for seniors. COA was originally a part of the Council of Community Services, but became its own independent agency in 2001 when that organization disbanded. COA is an independent 501(c) 3 nonprofit agency.Media Inquiries
