COA relies on the expertise and experience of those who work directly with seniors to help us identify problems related to aging and to work for cooperative solutions to those problems. COA has a Leadership Council composed of individuals who work with and deeply care about older adults and their families.
The Leadership Council meets to develop a strategic plan for the community with the authority to inform and guide decision-makers in government, provider agencies and families on how to value the assets of older adults and best meet their needs.
Leadership Council Projects
Face of Aging
In 2007, COA's Advisory Council began an educational series titled The Face of Aging 2030. This series was designed to bring awareness to the Nashville area community about the impact the Baby Boomers generation will have on our area.
Call to Action
The first educational event was a Call to Action Summit. More than 100 area business, political, and non-profit leaders attended the summit and came away with information about changes inevitable to the business community over the next 20+ years. See the PowerPoint presentation from the summit.
Caregiving & Employer Impact
The second educational event was a seminar focusing on employers and the impacts caregiving will have on their employees and their bottom lines. More than 100 area Human Resources professionals and business owners attended this event held at HCA's corporate office. See the PowerPoint presentation from the event.
ABCs of Long Term Care
The third event in the series focused on making the topic of Long Term Care more understandable and addressed the future of Long Term Care options. This presentation was made in partnership with the Tennessee Association of Homes and Services for the Aging (TNAHSA) and with financial sponsorship by AmeriChoice. The seminar was attended by more 100 seniors and professionals from across the state. See the PowerPoint presentations from the event.
