Twice each year, 30 older adults embark on a journey with Discover Nashville to get to know the city better and learn about opportunities to make a difference in their communities. Through tours, lectures, discussions, demonstrations and first hand experiences the participants discover more about their city and volunteer activities where they can make a difference.

Discover Nashville Alumni Group
Since the first class of Discover Nashville graduated in Fall 2001, the participants have wanted to reunite with the friends they made and continue to learn new things about the community, as a result the Discover Nashville Alumni Group formed. These events are open to those who have completed the seven-week Discover Nashville program.
Discover Nashville alumni gather up to three times each year to hear speakers such as John Seigenthaler or attend Nashville history classes led by Dr. Carole Bucy. The alumni group has also visited locations for educational presentations such as Congregation Micah, Historic Germantown, Sri Ganesha Hindu Cultural Arts Center, The Dyer Observatory, Tuck-Hinton Architects, and the Warner Parks Nature Center.
Most recently Discover Nashville Alumnis celebrated the 10th Anniversary of Discover Nashville. Over 125 Alums gathered to "remember and reconnect". The program also included reflections from Discover Nashville's original planners and provided an opportunity for the Council on Aging to thank the numerous volunteers that have given so much time and talent to the planning of each Discover session.
