Our volunteers range from working and retired professionals to community volunteers of all ages. If you have some time to give and an interest in our work, we would love to speak with you about available opportunities. Some areas where volunteers are always needed include:
Community Assessment Committee
Meets monthly and takes a close look at the gaps in services for seniors and studies ways to fill those gaps.
End of Life Issues Committee
This committee identifies and creates resources for seniors and their families when facing life limiting situations.
Legislative/Advocacy Committee
Meets to discuss current happenings in the government regarding older adults and often features guest speakers.
Publicity/Marketing Committee
We are always looking for professionals (active of retired) with expertise in public relations, marketing, and/or social media, who can help COA become better known in the Middle TN area.
Sage Awards Committee
This committee plans and executes the Sage Awards Luncheon which honors Middle TN older adults who have worked throughout their lives to strengthen and improve their communities. This committee is perfect for the volunteer who enjoys event planning.
Senior Days on the General Jackson Committee
Each May during Older Americans Month, COA sponsors cruises down the Cumberland River on the General Jackson Showboat just for seniors. Volunteers are always welcome on this committee to help with planning the event as well as to lend a helping hand on the showboat itself.
Office Assistance and Mailings
With a small staff, COA relies on its office volunteers to help carry out the administrative and clerical tasks of the office. We also have a mailings corps that assists with large mailings several times a year.
